How Active Am I – FAQ
Determining your level of activity can be done by tracking the amount of time you spend engaging in physical activities such as walking, running, or working out. You can also use fitness trackers or apps to monitor your steps, heart rate, and calories burned throughout the day.
The different levels of physical activity are categorized as sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, and very active. Sedentary individuals engage in little to no physical activity, while very active individuals participate in intense physical activities regularly. Lightly active individuals engage in light activities such as walking, while moderately active individuals engage in moderate exercises like jogging or swimming.
The recommended amount of physical activity for adults is at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise per week, or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise. This can be spread out over several days and should also include muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days a week.
Regular physical activity can help improve your overall health by reducing the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. It also helps boost mood, increase energy levels, improve sleep quality, and strengthen muscles and bones.
To stay motivated to remain active, set achievable goals, mix up your routine to keep things interesting, find a workout buddy for accountability, reward yourself for reaching milestones, and remind yourself of the benefits of staying active. Additionally, track your progress and celebrate your successes along the way.
