What Happened – Esperanza Rising Chapter 3

After the fire, Esperanza and her family have nowhere to live. They move into a smaller house owned by the servants. Esperanza feels sad and confused about losing everything. She misses her father and her old life.
Esperanza’s mother decides they need to leave Mexico. She wants to go to the United States to start a new life. Alfonso and Hortensia also plan to go with them. They hope for better opportunities there. Esperanza does not want to leave, but she agrees to go with her mother.
