What Happened – The Outsiders Chapter 2
Ponyboy and Johnny go with Dally to a drive-in movie. Dally tries to bother two Soc girls sitting in front of them, Cherry and Marcia. He speaks rudely and doesn’t stop, even when Cherry asks him to. Ponyboy feels embarrassed by Dally’s behavior. Cherry eventually tells Dally to leave them alone, and he walks away angrily.
Johnny, who is usually shy, speaks up and defends Cherry. This surprises Ponyboy, as Johnny rarely stands up to anyone. Cherry thanks Johnny for helping. She and Ponyboy start talking and discover they share some interests. They both enjoy sunsets and talk about the differences between Socs and Greasers. Cherry says not all Socs are the same.
Later, Two-Bit joins them at the movie. The group decides to walk Cherry and Marcia home, but they worry about running into Socs. On the way, a blue car approaches, and they realize it’s the girls’ Soc boyfriends, Bob and Randy. Tension builds, but Cherry stops a fight from happening. She agrees to leave with Bob to prevent violence.
