What Happened – The Phantom Tollbooth Chapter 16
Milo, Tock, and the Humbug arrive in the Mountains of Ignorance. They are on their way to rescue Rhyme and Reason. As they travel, they encounter demons who try to stop them. The first demon they meet is the Everpresent Wordsnatcher. It interrupts and confuses them with its constant chatter. Next, they meet the Terrible Trivium. This demon tries to distract them with meaningless tasks.
After escaping, they encounter the Demon of Insincerity. This demon tries to deceive them with lies. Milo, Tock, and the Humbug manage to see through its tricks. They continue their journey and meet the Gelatinous Giant. This giant is afraid of everything and does not want to fight. Milo uses this to their advantage and convinces the giant to let them pass.
Finally, they face the Senses Taker. This demon tries to steal their senses by asking endless questions. Milo realizes that laughter can break the spell. He uses humor to defeat the Senses Taker. With the demons behind them, Milo, Tock, and the Humbug reach the Castle in the Air.
