He describes the journey. The machine moved forward in time. At first, he saw the sun and moon moving quickly. Days and nights passed in seconds. He saw changes in the landscape. Buildings appeared and disappeared. He stopped the machine in the year 802,701.
When he arrived, he found a strange world. He met small, delicate people called the Eloi. They were peaceful and friendly. They lived in large buildings and ate fruit. The Time Traveller tried to communicate with them. He learned their simple language.
He noticed there were no old people or children. The Eloi had no technology or complex tools. They seemed carefree and happy. However, the Time Traveller sensed something was wrong. He started to explore the area.
